06 May How important is styling in Fashion?
Styling simply defined is the process of coordinating one’s garments in a particular way. As simple as it may sound, styling is actually a very serious and key aspect of fashion. It is quite common to come across an individual who owned the best pieces that money can buy and yet often comes off looking like yesterday’s left-over meal simply because his styling went drastically south.
It is pertinent to point out that some folks are endowed with abundance of personalities and well-structured body frames that any pieces draped on them become automatically transformed. The individuals that fall within this category often don’t bother about getting their styling wrong because even when they get it wrong, they appear to have gotten it right due to the confidence they imbibe so essentially speaking, they never get it wrong.
If you aren’t fortunate enough to fall into the afore mentioned category, don’t fret – there are options available to you. You may have to employ the services of good stylists however good stylists are definitely out of most people`s pay grade so the next best option is familiarised yourself with your anatomy and learn what sits well on it. It is self-defeating to dress the body you have seen on Instagram rather than the body you view daily across the mirror.
Every body type, slim, big, short, bulky et al can be styled stylishly if one simple formular is applied and that formular is called “know thy body”. I`m a huge fan of big and stylish individuals and they don`t come bigger and more stylish than Andre Leon Talley (R.I.P), American journalist and former editor at-large of Vogue. Mr Talley understood his body and dressed accordingly hence I rate him as one of the most stylish men that ever walked this God`s earth.
